STEVE KOLES

BACKGROUND

I have spent my entire career in news, working in many markets around the country. I got my start right out of college in central Pennsylvania as a photographer/producer and worked my way up from there. I spent the last 15 years as a News Director and I loved working with my team to constantly better the product. The most enjoyable part of being a news manager was working with and coaching amazingly, talented people. I have helped many journalists grow and transition into key roles in bigger markets.  Now I am using that passion and experience as a coach and agent.

NEWS

I have been in the trenches during some of the biggest news stories of the past two decades. 9-11, DC sniper, major weather, Uber mass shooter (right in my town) and the pandemic have not only stretched my ability, but taught me the importance of good storytelling and even better journalism. 

​

In addition to the news product, I have also spent much time negotiating contracts, retaining talent and guiding both new and seasoned anchors, meteorologists,  reporters and producers to be their best.

All of this work has been recognized with countless awards including 8 Murrows and dozens of Emmys.

PERSONAL 

My family and I have been living in New York and we love it! When I am not working, you can find me at the hockey rink or on our home rink in the winter. Most free time is spent running our three kids to hockey practices and games, theatre, robotics and dance.
